The final to-do list before I depart

Its like the one you make before you go on holiday – only this one is on steroids, to give you a flavour:

  • Take car for MOT (as luck would have it, mine runs out on the last day of my course – just what I need before 6 weeks’ unpaid leave – a blooming big car repair bill)
  • Take work suits to dry cleaner (it’s the only chance I get to have mine cleaned, I must really stink!)
  • Book Mani/Pedi (Gotta be beach feet ready at all times – that reminds me, I wonder if Paris Plages will be open?)
  • Book leg wax (See above)
  • Book eyebrow threading/eyelash & eyebrow tint (Make up in the kitchen is forbidden and quite frankly, I look ill without a coat of mascara and some eyebrow pencil!)
  • Book restaurant for dinner with hubby (This is like a last supper before I head off into the sunset – must be somewhere that serves substantial food – I’m not sure he will eat while I’m not there!)  Am I a feeder?
  • Send mother birthday flowers (she turns 80 on my first full day in Paris – guilt trips from siblings cos I won’t be there in person)
  • Print off all course documents (just in case the school tries to pull a fast one – have they met Madame Ferré?)
  • Buy plane ticket (just realised that I hadn’t actually made a booking yet!)

and the very last thing I did before I skipped out of the office today:

  • Set ‘Out of office’ on work phone and email (The task that gave me most pleasure)

It feels like Christmas, you know when you get to that point on Christmas Eve where all the shops are closed and you’re like “well it we haven’t got it now, we’ll just have to go without”?  That’s me right now, if I haven’t done it/got it/fixed it – too late.  It’s not like I’m off to Outer Mongolia, anything I don’t have, I’m sure I can find in Paris . . . I wonder where I can get hold of Cadbury’s chocolate . . . ?

From mid-June, I will be travelling to Paris where I will spend 6 weeks' learning all the basics of French pâtisserie, I'm preparing to take on some pounds!
